Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

These Avon girls surely do do a power of walking, but what is it about the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer that attracts so many? I mean really?

Well, in a nutshell, it's Avons' own campaign against the deadly affliction. Breast cancer can be fatal and any attempt to raise awareness or combat it surely has to be a welcome one.

Unfortunately, breast cancer is a real and ever present threat which is why Avon have decided to walk all over it. 39 miles to be precise! When it's time to get the Reebok out, almost forty miles will be marched on by an army of women intent on making a difference to the lives of people they'll probably never know, meet or even see. To my mind it probably doesn't get much more selfless than that.

The Avon Walks are held over two days with each event allocated it's own date. The events are planned months in advance and organisation is to the T and once underway, the calories will be heading for the hills as a pink battalion of Avon girls stomp their way to the finish line!

All money raised from the event goes to help under insured women and yes, men too to receive screening, support and treatment with substantial donations going to cutting edge research teams in their ever onward search for a cure.

Regardless of how you opinion yourself on Avon as a company, there's no doubting their efforts in the battle against cancer are close to Saint like. I don't know what it is, but selfless acts always seem to have a redeeming feature about them - especially from those who really can afford to make a real difference.
